Sustainable Earth launches the Small Business Sustainability Awards

Inaugural program will award $50,000 in prizes to American small businesses making progress toward a more sustainable future

PHOENIX, April 21, 2022–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sustainable Earth, a collaboration between Arizona State University (ASU) and Wells Fargo, announced the launch of the Sustainable Earth Small Business Awards (SESBA) to celebrate the innovative solutions small businesses across the United States develops to support its communities and the planet. The program will award more than $50,000 in prizes, with individual amounts up to $5,000, to 15 small American businesses that are making progress toward a more sustainable future.

The awards program, which invites nominations through July 1, 2022, is open to any U.S.-based small business and its employees who demonstrate sustainability innovation. This may include, but is not limited to, using renewable energy, conserving water, reducing waste, creating closed-loop systems, increasing equity and accessibility, etc Solutions may be in development or currently in practice.

“The collective efforts and innovative solutions of small businesses and the individuals within these organizations have a profound impact on the future of our planet and our communities,” said Katelyn Armbruster, M.Ed., Sustainable Program Manager. Companies with less than 500 employees are invited to share their sustainability stories via video or podcast. Submissions should include a description of the challenge, what solutions were tested and implemented, what worked, what didn’t work, and the results.
