Southampton are increasingly confident of strengthening their defense by loaning out Brandon Williams.
Talks on a temporary deal that will see full-back Williams move to St Mary’s continue between Southampton and United.
Southampton were keen on Williams, 20, last summer, but United were reluctant to let him go after his decisive season.

However, Williams couldn’t build on his 36 appearances in 2019-20 and only made 14 appearances and five starts after staying at Old Trafford.
Southampton have already signed left-back Romain Perraud and Kyle Walker-Peters established themselves as their first choice last season.
But Williams can play in both full-back positions, increasing his chances of getting more football at Southampton.

The Saints are also keeping an eye on Adam Armstrong, who played for Blackburn Rovers
Southampton, whose center-back Jannik Vestergaard is attracting Spurs’ interest, are keen to resolve their defensive issues in the transfer market before focusing on other areas of Ralph Hasenhuttl’s squad.
They are also keeping an eye on Blackburn forward Adam Armstrong as well as newly promoted Norwich. Blackburn signed the prolific 24-year-old from Newcastle in 2018 for around £ 1.75million.
With Newcastle securing a 40% sell clause in the deal, Blackburn is expected to keep between £ 12m and £ 15m for Armstrong.
