SC will create hundreds of new jobs as the company expands

COLUMBIA, SC (AP) – A company that manufactures products for multiple industries, including homeland security and defense, on Tuesday announced plans to establish operations in South Carolina, the governor’s office said.

Elbit Systems of America, LLC, a subsidiary of Elbit Systems Ltd., said the project will create about 300 new jobs in Charleston County.

“This project is an example of what we are capable of as members of the SC team. We are delighted to welcome this company and look forward to supporting it for many years to come,” said Governor Henry McMaster in a press release.

Elbit Systems is a leading provider of high performance system products and solutions focused on the defense, homeland security, commercial aviation and medical instrumentation industries. The new facility is expected to open by fall 2022.

The company said the new plant, which will be located in North Charleston, will increase its manufacturing capacity and support future growth.

“The establishment of this facility is part of a strategy to increase Elbit’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities in the United States and to help strengthen the United States defense industrial base,” said Raanan Horowitz, President and CEO of Elbit Systems of America. “We selected South Carolina because of its strong support for economic development, the availability of a skilled workforce and the existence of a strong supply chain. “

The Economic Development Coordination Council approved job development credits related to the project. Charleston County also received a $ 700,000 set-aside grant to help cover project costs.
