PSG qualify for the round of 16 of the Coupe de France but two Ligue 1 teams are eliminated

Holders Paris St Germain qualified for the Coupe de France Round of 16 with a no-frills 3-0 victory over amateur Entente Feignies-Aulnoye as two Ligue 1 sides were knocked out Sunday.

Kylian Mbappe and Mauro Icardi both scored first-half penalties before the French striker netted a second-half brace as the Ligue 1 leaders overtook a side playing in France’s fifth tier.

Mbappe converted a 16th-minute penalty after being knocked down in the box and Icardi also scored from the spot following another foul on Mbappe.

Mbappe, the only member of PSG’s formidable front three to start, with Neymar injured and Lionel Messi rested, added the third six minutes into the second half after latching on to a Colin Dagba cross.

Angers crashed out with a 2-0 loss to Fifth Division side Linas Montlhery, who won thanks to a first-half Pascal Leno brace.

Leno headed in the first in the ninth minute and doubled the advantage at the end of a counterattack 15 minutes later.

Fourth-division side Bergerac also sent a top-flight side as they eliminated Metz 5-4 on penalties after a goalless draw.

Olympique de Marseille survived a scare at home to fifth division side Le Cannet Rocheville, who opened the scoring in the first half, before Arkadiusz Milik’s hat-trick took the Ligue 1 club to a 4-1 victory.

Monaco, St Etienne, Girondins de Bordeaux and RC Lens have also been there, joining Stade Rennais, winners in 2019, who qualified for the round of 16 on Saturday.

On Friday, the Paris FC – Olympique Lyonnais match was abandoned following crowd problems at half-time.

The French federation said it would make “quick decisions” on the draw, which could see Lyon, whose supporters have invaded the pitch, eliminated.
