- Among those chosen was Manchester United transfer target Boubacar Kamara

- Unsurprisingly, Kylian Mbappe leads the attack after stellar 12 months
Manchester United target Boubacar Kamara and Arsenal outcast William Saliba have both been included in Football Observatory’s Ligue 1 Team of the Year.
United are considering Kamara as a ready-made replacement for Paul Pogba, should the midfielder leave as a free agent next summer as planned.
Kamara, 22, is set to terminate his contract and could be available for free at the end of the season, if he fails to agree new terms with Marseille.

Arsenal outcast William Saliba, on loan at Marseille, was chosen in defense after impressing
Although Kamara rejected deadline-day transfers to Wolves and Newcastle United in the most recent market, he is reportedly interested in a move to the Premier League.
Arsenal outcast Saliba has also proven himself at Marseille – having landed a place in the prolific XI after being loaned out by the Gunners.
The 20-year-old, currently on loan at Marseille in Ligue 1, has established himself as a key player under coach Jorge Sampaoli.
Saliba has made 21 appearances in all competitions so far this season and has been a consistent player in the heart of defence.

The 34-year-old was also upstaged by his PSG team-mate Kylian Mbappe

A notable absentee is Lionel Messi, who joined Paris Saint-Germain in the summer after leaving Barcelona.
The Argentine doesn’t qualify as he’s yet to complete 900 minutes since the start of the current campaign.
He scored just one goal and registered five assists in ten league appearances but his PSG team-mate Kylian Mbappe was included after a stellar 12 months.
Neymar – who has been plagued by injuries and struggled to find the back of the net – has also been left out of the Team of the Year for the 2021-22 season so far.
Meanwhile, players like Achraf Hakimi – who joined the club in the same transfer window as Messi – have clamored for a place in the squad, taking the right-winger job.

Presnel Kimpembe and Idrissa Gueye also impressed in the first half of the season for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and secured a place in the XI.
Marseille star player Dimitri Payet has also earned a place in the team after scoring 13 goals in 14 games.
Montpellier goalkeeper Jonas Omlin starts in goal with Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd in a three-man defense with Saliba and Kimpembe.
Lens’ much-loved midfielder Seko Fofana is placed in midfield, while Brest playmaker Romain Faivre completes the line-up.
