Arsenal news LIVE: Eddie Nketiah future LAST, Chelsea WIN reaction, Man Utd go from strength to strength
Hello Arsenal fans
Arsenal bounced back from their recent poor form with a 4-2 win over Chelsea.
The Gunners had lost three games in a row against Crystal Palace, Brighton and Southampton.
But the north London club put the past behind them with a resounding win at Stamford Bridge.
The Gunners led 1-0 through Eddie Nketiah before Timo Werner equalized for Chelsea. Emile Smith Rowe put them back in front but Cesar Azpilicueta brought the Blues level for the second time.
But Nketiah secured his second-half brace and Bukayo Saka added a late penalty to produce a vital victory for Mikel Arteta’s side in west London.
And the Gunners did it with the help of Alexandre Lacazette who missed most of the game.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has revealed the striker is recovering from a bout with Covid ahead of the clash.
The Frenchman entered the last minute of added time just before the whistle.
Arsenal received a boost in the game as Chelsea had less fan presence than usual.
Stamford Bridge had 10,000 fewer Blues fans than normal as sanctions against Russian owner Roman Abramovich prevented Chelsea from selling home tickets.
The gooners ruthlessly followed the misfortune of their rivals claiming they were reverting to the unfortunate times before outgoing owner Roman Abramovich took over.
They chanted, “There’s no one here, like in the good old days, there’s no one here.”
Arsenal’s win puts them level with Tottenham who currently hold the last Champions League spot.
The Gunners face Man United this weekend who are also chasing fourth place, and Red Devils star Jesse Lingard has sworn his club plan to win the game.
Lingard insisted: “We are going to go there with the mindset to win, to stay in the spotlight, to be intense, to do the basics and to have that energy to go and win the match.
“We have to work hard first before we can start playing, so win the individual battles and then we will hopefully win the game.”
Elsewhere, William Saliba, on loan from Arsenal, is being watched by Atletico Madrid ahead of the summer transfer window, according to reports.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who claim Atletico manager Diego Simeone is a ‘big admirer’ of Saliba, who is currently on loan at Marseille.
And finally, Bukayo Saka wants to fill the void left at Arsenal by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
He said: “This year you’ve seen how great a team we are, it’s the spark that we have to work for each other.
“Everyone is young and wants to give their all for Arsenal. What Auba has brought is so many goals for the team and has carried us at times.
“When he was doing that I looked at him and thought I always wanted to be that guy. Hopefully I can score important goals like he did.
